Tulsi Gabbard On Even Thinner Ice With DNC After Coming Out Against Impeachment

Hawaiian Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard committed a liberal venial sin in coming out against impeachment proceedings her fellow 2020 presidential candidates have been clamoring for since the moment President Trump placed his dainty little hand on the inauguration bible.

In the premiere episode of Greta Van Susteren’s new show, Full Court Press, Gabbard was asked point-blank about her thoughts on impeachment.

“Congress is coming back this week and the House Judiciary Committee is planning on voting on an expanded impeachment inquiry. Do you support this?” Van Susteren asked.

“I don’t,” Gabbard replied. “You know, I think it’s important for us to think about what is in the best interest of the country and the American people, and continuing to pursue impeachment is something that I think will only further … tear our country apart.”

“Make no bones about it: We need to defeat Donald Trump,” she continued. “But, I think it’s important for our country’s sake and our future that the voters in this country are the ones who do that, and I believe we will.”

That places Gabbard squarely in the minority within her party as more than half of the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives move to formally open an impeachment inquiry.

As of this writing, Rep. Ben Ray Luján, who serves as the assistant speaker under Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi, is the party’s highest-ranking member to voice support for the measure.

The Daily Wire continues:

Pelosi, a close ally of Luján, has been reluctant to embrace her caucus’ demands, even as the calls grow louder. Democrats largely gained the majority in the House after a wave of moderates were elected to purple districts during the 2018 midterm election cycle. With the 2020 election on the horizon, Pelosi fears that voters’ distaste for impeachment could put the majority back in the hands of Republicans.

In April, the House voted to kill a measure seeking to impeach Trump by a margin of 332-95. It was the first vote on such a measure since Democrats won over the House.

Gabbard’s stance against impeachment sure as hell isn’t gaining her any favor within the Democratic Party establishment, something she’s definitely going to need if she wants to advance in the 2020 race.

Gabbard and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are already on the outs after she failed to qualify for the upcoming primary debate.

While Gabbard quickly raised campaign donations from at least 130,000 unique donors, one of two criteria to participate in the debates, Gabbard only received at least 2% of the vote in two (out of a minimum of four) DNC-approved polls.

“The Gabbard campaign is calling on the DNC to hold true to their promise and make adjustments to the process now to ensure transparency and fairness,” the campaign wrote in a statement to the DNC, calling them out on their poll approval process and lack of transparency. “Crucial decisions on debate qualifications that impact the right of the American people to have the opportunity to participate fully in the Democratic process should not be made in secret by party bosses.”

I mean, this is really the absolute least of the skullduggery we know the DNC to commit, but Democrats will be Democrats, I suppose.

By all indications, Gabbard appears to be the sanest of the 2020 Democrat offerings and, as such, the best equipped to take on President Trump. Thankfully, the DNC is muscling her out in favor of a bunch of maniacs whose clear insanity makes them unsupportable to anyone intelligent enough to drive themselves to a voting station.

Let’s just hope they don’t figure out their mistake until after we’re celebrating reelection.
