Trump Pokes Dems After Buttigieg Exits Race: ‘They’re Taking Bernie Out Of Play’

President Donald Trump, the greatest counterpuncher in American politics, wasted no time poking fun at Democrats after former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg decided to drop from the 2020 presidential race, saying the whole thing is a strategy to take down Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Can you imagine if they succeed? That would mean Joe Biden would likely end up the nominee and boy, oh boy, would the sparring between Trump and Crazy Uncle Joe be legendary.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire:

President Donald Trump mocked Democrats Sunday night after former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg exited the race for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, suggesting that the Democratic Party had pushed Buttigieg out before his time so that they could consolidate behind a “moderate” candidate — in this case forme Vice President Joe Biden — and take Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) “out of play.”

“Pete Buttigieg is OUT,” Trump tweeted. “All of his SuperTuesday votes will to Sleepy Joe Biden. Great timing. This is the REAL beginning of the Dems taking Bernie out of play – NO NOMINATION, AGAIN!”

Trump is, of course, alluding to the 2016 race, when Democratic “superdelegates” locked in their votes for Hillary Clinton before the primary race even started, effectively preventing Sanders from snagging the presidential nomination, despite strong showings in Iowa and New Hampshire.

A lot of folks are speculating that the reason Buttigieg exited the race is because of pressure being applied to him so that the “moderate” votes would consolidate behind Biden, especially after his massive win in South Carolina.

If this theory ends up being right, the next casualty might be Sen. Amy Klobuchar, especially if she fails to win Minnesota, her home state. At the moment, Klobuchar is actually behind Bernie, so yeah, that’s an actual possibility. If you can’t win your home state you definitely should drop.

This race just keeps getting more and more interesting. Can’t wait to see who Trump will take on this time around.
