Trump Gets Tough On Media, Invites Them To Check Out Border Detention Centers
President Trump is taking no prisoners when it comes to criticisms of the border detention centers, which have been getting a bad wrap lately thanks in large part to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s comparison of the centers to concentration camps.
The president, who has clearly had enough of the nonsense, is inviting the media to go look at the border detention centers for themselves and see what kind of conditions illegals being held there are living in.
via The Daily Wire:
Trump stated, “What we’re going to do is I’m going to start showing some of these detention centers because — to the press. I want the press to go in and see them. And I just spoke to Mark Morgan, and I just spoke with, as you know, Kevin, so we’re going to send people in. We’re going to have some of the press go in because they are crowded, and we’re the ones complaining who were complaining about how they’re crowded. They’re crowding because people come up but now thanks to Mexico, it’s slowing down greatly, and I think you’ll start seeing some very good numbers. But it is crowded. But we want to have the press go in and see because The New York Times, it really is fake news.”
On Sunday, the president noted the media’s biased slant on the detention centers, tweeting:
The Fake News Media, in particular the Failing @nytimes, is writing phony and exaggerated accounts of the Border Detention Centers. First of all, people should not be entering our Country illegally, only for us to then have to care for them. We said there was a Crisis – the Fake News & the Dems said it was “manufactured.” Now all agree we were right, but they always knew that. They are crowded (which we brought up, not them) because the Dems won’t change the Loopholes and Asylum. Big Media Con Job!
This is what you have to do in order to set the record straight these days, especially if you’re the president. CNN and other left-wing media outlets have put a target on his back and it’s come to this sort of response in order to defend himself from their many baseless attacks.
Perhaps once they get a glimpse of the place for themselves they’ll stop with this nonsense and get back to talking about the important aspects of the immigration debate.
We can always hope, anyway.
