New Report Reveals NY Nursing Home Deaths Much Higher Than Initially Reported

A brand new report has come out indicating the number of nursing home deaths due to COVID-19 and the disastrous policy decisions made by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo are actually much higher than initially reported due to the methods used to collect the data.
What’s deplorable about this is how much the left is desperately trying to spin the situation in New York to make Cuomo out to be some sort of hero for the way he handled the outbreak. Thousands of lives were lost over his decisions during the initial part of the pandemic. This man is surely not a hero.

“New York’s coronavirus death toll in nursing homes, already among the highest in the nation, could actually be a significant undercount,” the Associated Press reported. “Unlike every other state with major outbreaks, New York only counts residents who died on nursing home property and not those who were transported to hospitals and died there.”
According to the AP, on paper, the nursing home only reported a total of four deaths from the coronavirus out of its nearly 150-bed facility. However, the true number is 21 dead, most of whom were transported out of the facility and to hospitals before they died.

“Another group of numbers also suggests an undercount,” the AP added. “State health department surveys show 21,000 nursing home beds are lying empty this year, 13,000 more than expected — an increase of almost double the official state nursing home death tally. While some of that increase can be attributed to fewer new admissions and people pulling their loved ones out, it suggests that many others who aren’t there anymore died.”
What’s really infuriating about all of this is that the report comes after Cuomo was asked by reporters on Monday whether or not he would support an independent investigation into the what happened with the nursing home situation and he said no.
Gee, it’s not like he’s the one responsible, right? Obviously he knows this is his fault and he’s trying to desperately deflect anything that might reveal his folly and end up holding him accountable for his actions.
Cuomo cares nothing at all for the families who lost loved ones because of his decisions.
“No, I wouldn’t do an investigation whether or not it’s political, everybody can make that decision for themselves,” Cuomo stated. “I think you’d have to be blind to realize it’s not political. Just look at where it comes from and look at the sources and look at their political affiliations and look at who wrote the letter in Congress and look at what publications raise it and what media outward networks raise it. It’s kind of incredible.”
What’s “kind of incredible” is how this man can lie to people’s faces without a shred of guilt or remorse for his actions. He’s responsible for thousands of deaths and isn’t even the slightest bit concerned about it.
