New Report Claims House Republicans Won’t Whip Votes Against Trump Impeachment

It seems the Republican Party is not at all interested in winning any more important political races, because otherwise they’d be all about throwing some support behind President Trump and fighting the impeachment effort currently being pushed by Democrats.

“House Republican leadership doesn’t plan to tell its members to vote against impeaching President Trump,” The Hill reported on Wednesday.

This is probably a pretty bad move. A new survey recently conducted over last weekend says that 91 percent of folks who voted for Trump would do so again. Not supporting Trump could alienate voters for these members of Congress.

The report noted that there was also no effort in dissuading Republicans to back the Democrat-led resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

Pence announced Tuesday that he would not be invoking the 25th Amendment, underscoring how such a move would be unconstitutional.

On Tuesday, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said she supports impeaching Trump for “summon[ing] the mob” that breached the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

“On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic,” Cheney wrote in a recent statement.

“Much more will become clear in coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough. The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing,” she went on to say. “None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution.”

Cheney concluded by saying, “I will vote to impeach the president.”

The Republican Party never learns. It’s obvious the only thing they care about is power and money. If they actually cared about protecting our rights and ensuring our way of life continues on for generations to come, they’d be much smarter in how they handle the current situation with Trump.

Maybe it’s time for a whole new party? One actually dedicated to the principles of the Constitution and to ensuring liberty for all.
