It’s been another week of parsimonious phrases, sly insinuations, and malicious misnomers. Despite the best efforts of those who worship relativism and abhors standards of behavior, words still matter. And, as the left intensifies its assault on traditional American and Judeo-Christian values, they continue to hijack words, twisting the meanings to fit their nefarious narrative.
Resistance is crucial, and knowledge is the best weapon for free-thinking people. So, here is another list of words misappropriated by those threatened by the freedoms of thought and speech. What the left thinks it means definitions are taken from the context of conversations, social media posts, and “news” stories. What it really means definitions are taken from The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language unless otherwise noted.
PROGRESSIVE
What the left thinks it means:1.) The only valid viewpoint 2.) Liberal. Anyone not progressive is an evil jerk.
What it really means: 1.) Moving forward; advancing. 2.) Proceeding in steps; continuing steadily by increments; progressive change. 3.) Open to or favoring new ideas, policies, or methods.
CONSERVATIVE
What the left thinks it means: An evil jerk who disagrees with us.
What it really means: 1.) Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change. 2.) Traditional or restrained in style. 3.) Moderate; cautious.
PROTEST
What the left thinks it means: We get to block traffic, destroy homes and businesses, maim and kill cops, EMT’s, and firefighters, and generally act the fool because we didn’t get our way. And all you conservatives are evil jerks for making us behave like that.
What it really means: 1.) To express a strong objection to (something). 2.) To participate in a public protest in opposition to (something).
CONSTITUTIONAL
What the left thinks it means: Anything we want is legal. Anything you want is illegal because you’re an evil jerk.
What it really means: 1.) Of or relating to a constitution. 2.) Consistent with, sanctioned by, or permissible according to a constitution. 3.) Established by or operating under a constitution.
UNBIASED
What the left thinks it means: Leaning to the left instead of the right. Being balanced makes you an evil jerk.
What it really means: Without bias or prejudice; impartial.
IMPEACH
What the left thinks it means: A magic spell that removes a President we don’t like and replaces him with Hillary Clinton. Anybody who doesn’t think this idea is a good one is an evil jerk.
What it really means: 1.) To make an accusation against. 2.) To bring formal charges against (a public official) for wrongdoing while in office.
Please remember that words matter. Use them wisely.
