Michelle Obama Delivers Heavy Criticism Of President Trump During DNC Comments

Former first lady Michelle Obama, no longer chained down by any pretenses of decency that comes along with having an official role in someone’s presidency, has come out swinging for the fences against President Donald Trump, delivering some of the most harsh comments toward his administration and his character of any of the speakers at the Democratic National Convention’s opening night.

Now, it’s important to note that Obama has never, ever been a fan of Donald Trump. She’s criticized him in the past, but nothing she said then compares to the lashing she dished out Monday evening.

Check out more from The Washington Examiner:

“Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country. He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is,” she said.

She added, wearing a gold “vote” necklace, “If you think things cannot possibly get worse, trust me, they can and they will if we don’t make a change in this election. We have got to vote for Joe Biden like our lives depend on it.”

“Going high is the only thing that works,” she said. “But let’s be clear: Going high does not mean putting on a smile and saying nice things when confronted by viciousness and cruelty. Going high means taking the harder path. It means scraping and clawing our way to that mountain top.”

Democrats going high? Unless we’re talking about smoking dope, I don’t think we have to worry at all about Democrats taking the high road in their engagement with Trump or anyone who dares to hold to a worldview that differs from their own. They are far too ingrained in their tribe to allow themselves to be decent human beings and have an articulate, fruitful discussion with someone who doesn’t have the same beliefs.

This marks the first time Obama has come out for Biden’s campaign and shown strong support, so it seems likely he wasn’t the first choice the Obamas were hoping for. Then again, maybe he was. Who knows?

Regardless, we shouldn’t be taking any political advice from her or her husband, Barack Obama, our former president, who is due to deliver his remarks on Wednesday night.
