Joe Biden’s Choice Of Chief Of Staff Opposed By ‘Squad,’ And Progressives

It seems that Joe Biden’s pick for chief of staff, Bruce Reed, is not someone who has a whole lot of support with die-hard progressives like the members of the infamous Squad, which could prove to be disappointing to these far-left radicals who were hoping that if Biden won the White House, they’d be able to push him a little more toward the left.

In fact, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez signed and promoted a petition that said, “Sign now: No Deficit Hawks in the Biden Administration!” This petition was aligned with Justice Democrats and made the rounds back in November, specifically to show opposition for Reed as Biden’s choice for chief of staff.

via Fox News:

Reed, Biden’s transition organization announced Tuesday, will be the president-elect’s deputy chief of staff, one of the most powerful positions in a presidential administration.

Reed was tapped along with a handful of others to senior posts in the Biden White House on Tuesday. The group included Anne Filipic, an Obama campaign and White House alumna who previously ran a nonprofit promoting enrollment in the Affordable Care Act (ACA), as the director of management and administration.

“Putting someone in the administration who will prioritize paying down the deficit ahead of all other concerns in charge is a recipe for cutting our earned benefits and turning the COVID recession into a depression,” the Justice Democrats’ petition read. “Rejecting Reed will be a major test for the soul of the Biden presidency.”

So why, exactly, are so many of the hardcore radicals in the government against Reed being installed as chief of staff in a Biden administration?

The petition claims that his role in the Obama administration’s Bowles-Simpson commission, which “proposed…massive cuts to Social Security and Medicare,” is why they don’t think he’s fit for the position.

“Joe Biden must not repeat Obama’s mistake,” the petition says. “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris ran on strong promises to protect and expand Social Security.”

Reps. Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and incoming Squad member Rep.-elect Cori Bush, also signed the petition against Reed.

This will definitely put a little hostility between the Squad and the Biden administration, who likely knows their extreme radical agenda won’t be moving too far forward without someone more in line with their values in Biden’s ear.
