Home Invaders Shoot 84-Year-Old Man, But Then He Started Shooting Back

An 84-year-old grandfather demonstrated the meaning of true grit by opting to face two armed men who broke into his home rather than hiding from them late Sunday night.

Instead of running, the man grabbed his gun and got into a fire fight with the two burglars, defending not only his home, but also his grandson who was in the house at the time of the incident.

The grandson, a teenager, escaped the gun fire by crawling out a window onto the roof.

Two armed men broke into the grandfather’s home in Silverton, Ohio, at about 9:20 p.m.

One of the intruders fired and struck the homeowner in his left side.

The homeowner grabbed his gun during the invasion and fired back at the men, according to WXIX-TV.

“I think I’ve been hit,” the grandfather told the 911 dispatcher.

“I’ve been shot. … They broke in the front door and there was two of them. One come in the back, and one come in the front,” he explained.

“But I’m not hurting real bad,” the grandfather added.

“Do you have a gun?” the dispatcher asked the grandfather.

“Yes, I just fired a couple shots,” the grandfather said, adding that the gun was sitting right beside him.

“Did you hit them? the dispatcher asked.

“I don’t know. I got a couple holes in the wall,” the grandfather replied.

The intruders fled the scene after the grandfather fired back at them.

As of this writing there’s no word on the grandfather’s condition. The suspects involved in the incident are currently still on the loose. Local authorities deployed a K-9 unit to help look for the two men.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what the Second Amendment is for. It allows average, every day citizens to have the means of defending themselves, their loved ones, and their property from lawless heathens like these two men who desire to steal and physically harm other individuals, all to avoid having a real job and contributing to society.

If there’s ever been a reason to fight for the right to bear arms, stories like this one are it.
