Governor Of Georgia Issues Override On All Local Mask Mandates

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp — a conservative Republican — has issued an executive order that prohibits local governments from enacting mask mandates for when people go out in public.

If you listen closely, you can hear the rage machine about to go nuclear over this. Get ready, Georgia. You’re going to see tons of shaming over this. Stand strong and don’t bow down.

The order in question will prevent any municipality from being able to enforce a mask order that is more restrictive than the one that is currently enacted at the state level.

Here’s the scoop from The Daily Caller:

The order nullifies more than 15 mandates that have already been issued by local governments throughout the state, according to The Associated Press.

Instead of a mask mandate, the state order says that masks are “strongly encouraged,” except when eating, drinking or exercising, according to The Hill.

“Previous executive orders – and now this order – state no local action can be more or less restrictive than ours. We have explained that local mask mandates are unenforceable. The Governor continues to strongly encourage Georgians to wear masks in public,” said Candice Broce, a spokeswoman for Kemp, The Hill reported.

The bottom line is that there is no consensus that masks work at all. They could end up making things worse in the long run. Too much misinformation floating around and too many people with political agendas trying to turn this whole pandemic into something they can use to further their own aspirations.

We must be careful about how we proceed during the pandemic. The last thing we want to do is hand government more power and authority, which we all know we will never get back.
