Former Bernie Sanders Campaign Official Demands Joe Biden ‘Withdraw From Race’ Amid Tara Reade Accusations

A former top official for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign has called for Joe Biden to step down as the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party over the allegations of sexual assault from his former aide Tara Reade.

Claire Sandberg, who worked as the national organizing director for the Sanders campaign, spoke on Wednesday saying that Democrats should act on the accusations of Tara Reade, who was a former staffer of Biden’s during his time as a senator. New evidence that has emerged suggests that the accusations against Biden by Reade are not recent, but something she told friends and family about not long after the incident occurred.

“Now is the time to deal with the ramifications of Tara Reade’s accusations, not this fall,” Sandberg tweeted. “There is simply no moral justification for Biden to continue as the presumptive nominee. Out of respect for survivors and for the good of the country, he should withdraw from the race.”

“This does not mean that Bernie should become the nominee by default,” Sandberg continued. “The primary should resume somehow, and other candidates who dropped out should be able to get back in the race as well. Obviously, this means primaries should not be cancelled.”

Sandberg went on to say that if the Democratic Party really wants to defeat President Trump this November, Biden must step aside, which would prevent the current commander-in-chief from being able to capitalize on the controversy during his reelection campaign.

“Barreling ahead and acting like Biden’s conduct is excusable, or pretending that Trump won’t make a lot of hay out of the Democratic party’s hypocrisy, does not seem like a good plan to me,” the former Sanders campaign official said.

“The stakes are too high to just pray that ‘yes these accusations are troubling but vote for Biden anyway to stop Trump’ will be a winning message. It’s possible that it will be enough, given the level of death and economic destruction we’re facing, but do we want to risk it?” Sandberg continued.

She’s right as far as strategy goes. With so many high-profile Democrats still coming out and supporting Biden, they are providing Trump with a whole lot of ammo to use against them. The hypocrisy of not standing on the principle of “believing all women” for starters. But it doesn’t end there. Biden and Democrats in general will also catch flack for not taking action to hold a sexual predator accountable for his actions.

Will these folks listen to Sandberg’s call? Not likely.

The only thing they care about is defeating Trump in November, and they are convinced Biden is their only hope of accomplishing that. What they don’t seem to realize is that the very defeat they are trying to prevent might end up happening because they have abandoned all moral high ground in favor of revenge.
