Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Slams The Press For Being ‘Obsessed’ With Jan. 6

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis took aim at journalists, accusing them of having an “obsession” with the Capitol riots that place a year ago on January 6th, 2021.
DeSantis was holding a press conference concerning the issue of coronavirus testing on Thursday when he told members of the media he believed they had given the riots far too much attention in order to promote their own narrative.
“There is an obsession with this among the D.C.-New York journalist class,” DeSantis remarked. “I think it’s because it allows them to spin a narrative that they want to spin.”
“This is their Christmas: Jan. 6,” the Republican governor went on to say. “They are going to take this and milk this for anything they can to be able to smear anyone who ever supported Donald Trump.”
DeSantis compared the riots to the 2017 shooting at a congressional baseball practice, where “Bernie Sanders guy” shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and several others.
“That was like a one-day, two-day story,” he commented. “That was not something that the Capitol-based press wanted to talk about. Why? Because it totally undercut their preferred narratives.”
The governor then referenced the press coverage of whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, claiming their coverage “damaged trust in institutions.”
As for DeSantis’s own opinion of Jan. 6?
“It’s not something that I’ve been concerned about in my job here because, quite frankly, it’s not something that most Floridians have been concerned about,” the Florida governor said.
“I think it’s going to end up being just a politicized Charlie Foxtrot today,” DeSantis said. “I don’t expect anything good to come out of anything that Pelosi and the gang are doing. I don’t expect anything from the corporate press to be enlightening. I think it’s going to be nauseating, quite frankly, and I’m not going to do it.”
And this is why so many people around the country are starting to love this guy.
