FINALLY! Cruz, Cassidy Take Steps To Combat Antifa Domestic Terrorism

The tremendous irony that those who use violent Brownshirt tactics to inflict their agenda on ideological opponents would label themselves “anti-fascist” is painfully obvious to anyone with a few neurons still firing.

On that basis, it’s simply inexcusable for any rationally-thinking liberal to refuse to condemn Antifa’s concrete milkshake-lobbing antics. Just as leftists demand Conservatives to repeatedly disavow actual white supremacists at every turn (and we do), they should be held to the same standard of decrying the extremists in their ranks.

Thanks to Republican Senators Ted Cruz (TX) and Bill Cassidy (LA), life for Antifa thugs is about to get a whole lot harder.

In the wake of Willem Van Spronsen’s violent attack on an ICE facility, Cruz and Cassidy introduced a resolution on Thursday calling for Antifa to officially and at long last be recognized as a domestic terrorist group.

The resolution comes hot on the heels of the self-labeled Antifa member’s attack on the ICE facility in Tacoma, Washington, as well as the vicious assault of journalist Andy Ngo in Portland.

“Antifa is a terrorist organization composed of hateful, intolerant radicals who pursue their extreme agenda through aggressive violence. Time and time again their actions have demonstrated that their central purpose is to inflict harm on those who oppose their views,” Cruz said in a tweet announcing the resolution. “Like any terrorist organization they choose to pursue their political ends through violence, fear & intimidation. They must be stopped. I’m proud to introduce this resolution w @SenBillCassidy to properly identify what Antifa are: domestic terrorists.”

“Antifa are terrorists, violent masked bullies who ‘fight fascism’ with actual fascism, protected by Liberal privilege,” Cassidy said in a statement. “Bullies get their way until someone says no. Elected officials must have courage, not cowardice, to prevent terror.”

“Antifa is a domestic terror organization. This is a group of hateful, intolerant radicals pursuing their extreme agenda through violence,” he said in a tweet. “They are masked bigots, attacking others b/c they don’t agree with their ideas. The time to stop Antifa is NOW!”

The resolution, which also lists several other acts of antifa terrorism in recent memory, “calls for the groups and organizations across the country who act under the banner of Antifa to be designated as domestic terrorist organizations.”

The resolution will compel all members of the Senate to condemn Antifa’s violent tactics, call for the civil and peaceful discourse regarding ideological differences, and calls on the federal government to intensify efforts to combat far-left violence right alongside any other violent ideological groups.

This couldn’t have come a moment too soon.
