Democrat Mayors Furious Over Trump’s Plan To Defund ‘Lawless’ Cities

The Trump administration has had enough of the nonsense and lack of leadership from Democratic mayors in cities where Black Lives Matter and Antifa have been terrorizing citizens by burning down neighborhoods, causing violence, and looting local businesses.

On Wednesday, the White House announced plans to defund four major cities who have not taken proper action to bring all of this violence under control. This order includes Portland, Seattle, New York City, and Washington, D.C.

President Trump took to Twitter where he said, “My Administration will do everything in its power to prevent weak mayors and lawless cities from taking Federal dollars while they let anarchists harm people, burn buildings, and ruin lives and businesses. We’re putting them on notice today.”

As you might expect, the mayors in these cities are furious with the president and are attempting to malign him for this decision, while not at all taking responsibility for their own failures in securing law and order in their streets.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio responded by writing on Twitter: “While @realDonaldTrump spent this year hiding from COVID-19, New York City led the fight back. Now we’re trying to recover and he’s making unconstitutional, political threats against us. Mr. President, we’ll see you in court. We’ve beaten you there before and we’ll do it again.”

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler responded: “Trump threatens to withdraw federal funds, possibly including health, education, and safety net dollars Americans are relying on to get through this pandemic and economic crisis.”

“Once again, only progressive communities with democratic Mayors, which he labels ‘anarchist jurisdictions’ – including Portland – are targeted. This is a new low, even for this president,” Wheeler continued. “He continues to believe that disenfranchising people living in this country to advance his petty grudges is an effective political strategy. The rest of us know it is dangerous, destructive, and divisive.”

Isn’t it amazing how these folks continue to ignore the fact that they are placing politics and the marching orders of the Democratic Party to oppose Trump at all costs above the health, safety, and security of their own citizens?

When it comes to liberals, everything is always someone else’s fault. Personal responsibility isn’t something they seem to believe in. If they want to keep their funding, all they have to do is quell the rioting.

But that would entail encouraging law enforcement to do their jobs, which would go against the current anti-cop narrative pushed by the radical left. They’d likely have to get help from Trump too, asking him to send National Guard troops to help assist police.

Pretty obvious why they aren’t taking that route.

What Wheeler, de Blasio, and Durkan just don’t seem to understand is that by following the left’s orders, they are essentially handing the election to the president.
