The Oakland Raiders were always considered pioneers in the NFL for their racial divide. They hired the first black head coach Art Shell and hispanic coach Tom Flores in the NFL. The first female executive was added in Amy Trask. The organization has never been a stranger to controversy. When speculation arose around the signing of controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick GM Mark Davis was concerned with the backlash of Raider fans boycotting issued this statement:   “After much thought if you think we’d sign Kaepernick…..You gotta be dumber than a bag of hammers.”
