Bob Woodward Says Trump Revealed The Existence Of A Secret Weapons System

According to veteran journalist Bob Woodward, President Donald Trump has revealed the existence of a secret weapons project to him.

Or so he says in the pages of his brand new book, Rage, which he provided an excerpt for to the Washington Post. The passage in question says that the revelation of the system’s existence came about during a conversation about how close the U.S. and North Korea came to getting involved in war.

Here’s more from The Washington Examiner:

“I have built a nuclear — a weapons system that nobody’s ever had in this country before. We have stuff that you haven’t even seen or heard about. We have stuff that Putin and Xi have never heard about before. There’s nobody — what we have is incredible,” Trump said, according to Woodward, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to the report, Woodward writes that anonymous sources confirmed to him the U.S. military has a secret new weapons system but declined to provide specifics. He also claims they were surprised Trump talked about the project.

Rage is due to hit bookstores on Tuesday. Although Woodward spoke with Trump for the sequel to 2018’s Fear, the president has already dismissed the book as “fake.”

The chances are pretty high that Woodward, who’s brightest time to shine was Watergate, is looking to once again make himself famous and relevant in the modern journalistic landscape. Truth be told, he’s probably twisting things up a bit to make them sound more exciting than they actually are.

But hey, who knows? The president would probably deny telling this sort of thing anyway, right?

At the end of the day, we need to ensure we’re protected from our enemies, and we have many, so that we can enjoy peace and security as we live out our lives. That’s a legitimate function of the presidency.
