Around 108 COVID-19 Positive Illegal Immigrants Released In The State Of Texas
According to new reports, there have been a total of 108 migrants who have been released by the Border Patrol in the state of Texas since the end of January that have tested positive for the coronavirus after they arrived in the country.
Felipe Romero, a spokesperson for the border town of Brownsville, stated that municipality officials are now advising migrants to quarantine and follow the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
However, they do not currently have the authority to keep those individuals who tested positive from going anywhere else in the United States.
Romero said that the illegal immigrants with coronavirus represent 6.3% of the number of total migrants who have been rapid-tested at the city’s main bus station.
NBC News reported that city officials told Noticias Telemundo Investiga that it is advising migrants with coronavirus to go to nonprofits in the area for help in finding places they can isolate, but several illegal immigrants who tested positive said they would soon go to other cities.
A worker for one of the bus companies at the terminal said passengers must wear masks on board and use hand sanitizer gel, but the company cannot ask travellers for coronavirus tests before getting on a bus.
Typically, illegal immigrants are released and given a permit or under supervision with an ankle monitor. They are supposed to continue through the asylum process in an attempt to stay here in the United States.
At the end of the day, allowing these folks into the country is putting American citizens at risk. You’d think since progressives are the ones who have been all about saving lives from COVID with their lockdowns and mask mandates would be all about making sure illegal immigrants with coronavirus wouldn’t be allowed across the border, right?
That wouldn’t be politically expedient though. Thus, it’s not happening and our national security, in the middle of a pandemic, is being compromised.
