And the Award Goes to…

It seems the Grammy Awards happened last night. I’d been looking forward to it all year and planned a night in front of the TV, a bowl of popcorn in my lap and a beer (or two) on the table beside me. Needless to say, I was heartbroken when I realized I’d missed the whole shindig. Still, my evening was pretty exciting, all things considered.

I did some home repair projects over the weekend, and finished up by painting over the work and blending it into the existing color. Seeing the Grammys was awfully tempting, but I got caught up watching my handyman work come to fruition. It seems boring, I know, but watching the paint’s true color come out as it dried was absolutely fascinating. It looked much darker at first, but gradually lightened and blended perfectly into the rest of the wall. I didn’t realize I’d missed all the fun until well after that bunch of self-righteous blowhards had exhausted their vitriol against not-their-President Trump and all of his supporters.

While it’s true I didn’t see the politically charged propaganda fest, the flood of “news” stories covering the brouhaha has run nonstop across my computer screen all day long, detailing each attack against the President, all Republicans, and conservatives in general. I understand Hillary Clinton even showed up to make her own digs at the man who vanquished her last November. Obviously, everyone there congratulating themselves last night thought Clinton was not only the better choice for President, but the ONLY choice.

Whether it’s the Grammys, mainstream “news” outlets, internet sites, network TV shows, Twitter, Facebook, or Snapchat (Yes, I’m missing a few, but I’m too old and crotchety to either know or care about them.), the American left takes every opportunity to deride anyone who doesn’t support their agenda. We’re too stupid to know better. We’re hate-filled bigots. We’re a basket of deplorables. So, in the afterglow of last night’s hate fest – which, incidentally, saw a YUGE drop in viewers – it seems appropriate to examine the left’s argument against anyone who dares to disagree with The Agenda.

To start, let’s put the whole “resistance” movement in perspective. They were initially angry that anyone would dare challenge their beliefs. Nearly a decade of being told the Constitution was written to insure no one on the left would ever be offended had them convinced it was true. Then, they were mad because their candidate lost, severely challenging their belief that destiny was merely a function of their dreams.

Now, each screech of outrage and indignation shows that they’re furious because…wait for it… Yep, they’re now up in arms because the candidate they worked to discredit and defeat, the one they now refuse to claim as their President, is taking actions they don’t agree with. What a cad! Only the lowest, most conniving rapscallion would do something so vulgar and deceitful.

And yet, 63,000,000 Americans were so sure Donald Trump was a better choice than Hillary Clinton that they made the effort to get out and vote for him. Even more telling are the 7,000,000 Democrats who voted in 2012 but decided to stay home in 2016 instead of casting their ballot for Madam President. That’s a lot of Americans who were mocked, scorned, and otherwise hated on not just last night, but every single day for the last decade. In addition, anyone who doubts that at least one million, some say more than three million, people who did vote for Clinton were either dead, illegal, or completely made up is either dishonest or every bit as thick as the left accuses conservatives of being.

The election is over, whether Clinton and company accept it or not, so delving into the single car accidents, unexplained heart attacks, botched robberies, and suicides that seem to follow the left’s preferred candidate is, for this discussion, unnecessary. So are the deleted emails, smashed cell phones, Russia collusion, rigged Democratic primary, reports of abusive and vindictive behavior, harassment of her husband’s sexual assault victims, pay-for-play, and sale of our uranium reserves to a hostile foreign power. All are important issues with questions that very much need to be answered, but none are necessary to show how vindictive the American left has become, and how childishly determined they are to have their way.

America works because it’s made up of different views, opinions, and solutions. It works because no matter how much we might disagree about the path we take, we work toward the same goals. It works because we’re all Americans first. The self-absorption and intolerance that was displayed last night is, unfortunately, what we’re supposed to believe America has become and must be to survive.

Last night’s seven-year-low in the Grammy Awards viewership proves Americans know that’s a lie. Let’s hope we’re seeing the start of something big.
